How To Use Tattoo Ink

When a tattoo artist says they make their own ink, they may just mean that their ready-made inks are mixed together to create unique colors. They actually mean they can dry paint and mix their own inks instead of buying ready-made inks. Creating liquid ink dry pigments is also very challenging and you should do a lot of research before this process.

1. Create a new color blend of ready-made liquid inks. With a little practice, you can understand which colors are blended so that new colors or diluted colors make them lighter. This will allow you to choose more colors without having to purchase the color of each tattoo ink.

2. Make the tattoo ink deeper. The specific color is slightly darker, adding a small black. Darker you want, then the darker you are. Don't add too much once, however, as a small walk a long way, especially if you are looking for a subtle change.

3. Let the tattoo ink lighter. The specific color is slightly lighter, adding a small white one. Lighter the color you want, you will add more white ink. Again, like black, it's a long way to go, so you don't want to add too much. Some tattoo artists will also try to add distilled water to lighten the ink. This is a particularly common grey wash tattoo.

4. Make a completely different shade or color of tattoo ink. Try adding two completely different colors together to find that the new colors may not be ready-made or allow you to provide more color choices without having to stock each available different colors.

5. Mix liquid ingredients. Common versions of tattoo inks include 7/8 quart of witch hazel (which replaces 100 years of vodka, also known as alcohol or Lisdrin), one tablespoon of glycerin and one tablespoon of propylene glycol, stirred until the content is clear.

6. Find a clean, sterile stirrer. Add about one to two inches of pigment powder into the blender and add liquid until you have a thin mixture of ingredients into what is commonly referred to as a mud solution.

7. Mixed mixture. Once you have the consistency blended, mix at low speed for about 15 minutes and then turn on the blender for an hour.

8. Pour the mixture into a sterile vial. Using a large syringe, float, funnel or other object, this object allows you to siphon the now mixed tattoo ink clean, sterile bottles for storage.

9. Add a sterile bearing. Place a sterile ball bearing, marble or other item in the bottle to help mix the ink every time you use it.

10. Store your ink. Tattoo inks should be stored away from sunlight and fluorescent lighting can cause pigmentation changes.

11. Practice health procedures are consistent. You must maintain a sterile environment not only in making tattoo inks, but all the time. Allowing any form of contamination into your tattoo ink or tattoo area can cause infection to spread to each client. If you have any questions about any products or items that are infertile, don't let your tattoo ink.
